City of Joondalup, Responding to and reporting people experiencing homelessness
The City of Joondalup’s internal protocol provides a coordinated approach when responding to homelessness which:
• Ensures people who are sleeping rough are treated with dignity and respect and are not discriminated against, based on their residential status or living arrangements.
• Facilitates positive outcomes for people experiencing homelessness through the coordination of information, advocacy, and support.
• Maintains safety and care for all involved including those experiencing homelessness, City employees and contractors, and the general public.
The protocol outlines a compassionate and inclusive approach whilst considering staff safety and not blurring the lines of local government responsibilities in responding to people experiencing homelessness
